Where the hiring actually is
Performance and analytics
Paid media, growth, marketing analytics and attribution. Closest to revenue, easiest to justify at the salary threshold, and the specialism most likely to be sponsored.
Lifecycle, CRM and product marketing
Braze, Klaviyo, HubSpot and Salesforce Marketing Cloud on the CRM side; positioning, launches and sales enablement on the product side. Both hire steadily in B2B SaaS and fintech.
Content, SEO and brand
High volume of roles, high competition, and the least sponsorship. Strongest route in for people already holding a UK work right, or via agencies that hire fast and promote internally.
Agency or in-house: pick deliberately
UK marketing splits into two hiring cultures. Agencies hire faster, interview in fewer stages, and value breadth across clients and channels. In-house teams pay more at the same level, run longer processes, and value depth in one product and one funnel.
If you are arriving without UK experience, an agency is often the quicker first step: the shortlists are shorter, the work is portfolio-visible, and twelve months of UK client work removes the main objection in-house recruiters have about overseas candidates.
If you need sponsorship, the calculation flips. Large in-house employers are far more likely to hold a sponsor licence than a small agency, so filter your target list by licence first and by culture second.
Indicative UK marketing salaries in 2026
Base salary ranges seen in advertised roles. London carries a premium that living costs mostly absorb.
| Role | London | Outside London |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing executive | £32,000 – £45,000 | £26,000 – £35,000 |
| Performance / paid media manager | £45,000 – £65,000 | £38,000 – £52,000 |
| CRM / lifecycle manager | £45,000 – £62,000 | £38,000 – £50,000 |
| Product marketing manager | £55,000 – £80,000 | £45,000 – £65,000 |
| Marketing analytics lead | £60,000 – £85,000 | £50,000 – £68,000 |
| Head of marketing | £75,000 – £110,000 | £60,000 – £85,000 |
Ranges are indicative for 2026 and vary by sector, company size and equity. Fintech and B2B SaaS sit at the upper end; charity, education and small agencies at the lower.
What a UK marketing CV needs
- ·Two pages, no photo, and a summary line that names your specialism in the words the advert uses.
- ·Every role led by outcomes: spend managed, CAC, ROAS, pipeline sourced, revenue influenced, retention lift.
- ·A tools line that mirrors the posting: GA4, Looker, HubSpot, Salesforce, Braze, Meta and Google Ads, SQL.
- ·Markets and languages you have run campaigns in, stated explicitly.
- ·Your work authorisation and availability in one line, if you are not already in the UK.
- ·A link to a results one-pager or portfolio, hosted somewhere that opens without a login.
How to run the search
Filter by sponsor licence first
If you need a visa, the register of licensed sponsors decides your entire target list. Applying outside it is the single biggest waste of time in a UK marketing search.
Pick one specialism and commit
Generalist marketing CVs lose in the UK. Choose performance, CRM, product marketing, content or brand, then rewrite everything around it.
Rebuild your numbers
Convert every campaign into budget, channel and outcome. If you cannot put a number on it, put a scale on it: audience size, markets, team size.
Use LinkedIn as a shop window
UK marketing recruiters source heavily on LinkedIn. A headline naming your specialism and target market brings inbound that applications never will.
Prepare a case interview
Expect a task: a channel plan, a launch plan or a teardown. Practise presenting one in 20 minutes with clear assumptions and a measurement plan.

Frequently asked questions
Can marketing roles get visa sponsorship in the UK?+
Yes, but less often than technology roles. Sponsorship concentrates in performance marketing, marketing analytics, CRM and product marketing, where the salary threshold is easier to meet and the skills are harder to hire locally. Brand and communications roles are sponsored far less frequently. Always check the employer on the public register of licensed sponsors before applying.
Which marketing specialisms are in demand in the UK?+
Performance and paid media, lifecycle and CRM, marketing analytics, SEO and content strategy, and B2B product marketing. Anything that can be tied to pipeline or revenue is easier to hire and easier to justify to a finance team.
Do UK employers care about my portfolio?+
For content, brand, design-adjacent and social roles, yes, and they will ask for it early. For performance, CRM and analytics roles, a one-page results summary with channel, budget, and outcome numbers is more persuasive than a visual portfolio.
How much do marketing jobs pay in the UK?+
Indicative London ranges in 2026 are roughly £32,000 to £45,000 for executive level, £45,000 to £65,000 for manager level and £70,000 to £100,000 plus for head of marketing. Outside London expect 15 to 25 percent lower, with proportionally lower living costs.
Is UK marketing experience required?+
It is not required, but UK or EU market context helps. Name the markets you have run campaigns in, the tools you own, and the compliance environment you have worked under. If your experience is outside Europe, translate results into terms a UK hiring manager recognises: channel, spend, CAC, pipeline and revenue.
Which UK cities hire marketers beyond London?+
Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh and Birmingham all have real in-house and agency demand, with shorter shortlists than London. Agencies in those cities hire quickly, and agency experience is a common route into an in-house role later.
