Confirm whether your role sits on the Critical Skills list, is eligible under the General Employment Permit, or is on the ineligible list. This decides everything else.
Build a company list, not a job list
40 to 60 named employers in your sector with Irish operations. Job ads are a snapshot; the company list keeps working for months.
Fix the CV before you send anything
Irish format, two pages, results with numbers, no photo. Say clearly which permit you need and that you are eligible, rather than hoping it will not come up.
Reach a human at each company
A short, specific LinkedIn message to the hiring manager beats a hundred portal applications. Reference their team, not the job ad.
Handle the sponsorship question head on
Name the permit, the threshold and the timeline in one sentence. Employers say no to uncertainty far more often than to cost.
What to expect on timing
A realistic sponsored search from abroad runs three to six months from first application to signed contract, then several more weeks for the permit and, for visa-required nationals, the entry visa on top.
That timeline is the reason the target list matters. Volume applied without direction produces silence, and silence is what makes people conclude Ireland is closed when it is not.

How do I find visa sponsorship jobs in Ireland?+
Target the employers who already sponsor rather than filtering job boards for the word sponsorship. Build a list of 40 to 60 companies in your sector with Irish operations, apply directly on their careers sites, and speak to people inside them on LinkedIn.
Can I get sponsored for a job in Ireland from abroad?+
Yes. There is no requirement to be in Ireland to apply, and interviews are routinely done remotely. What matters is that your CV is in Irish format, your occupation is eligible, and the salary reaches the permit threshold.
Does the employer pay for the work permit?+
It varies. The €1,000 permit fee is often paid by the employer, sometimes shared, and visa and relocation costs are usually the candidate's unless the package says otherwise. Ask early so it does not become a surprise at offer stage.
Why do Irish employers say they do not sponsor?+
Usually because they expect it to be slow and complicated rather than because of a policy. Explaining which permit applies to your role and what the timeline is will change some of those answers, particularly at smaller companies who have simply never done it.
Do I need an Irish CV to get sponsored?+
In practice, yes. A two page Irish format CV with no photo, no date of birth and clear results is the baseline. A CV in another country's format is the most common reason strong candidates are filtered out before sponsorship is ever discussed.
